Tommy Ward has a unique business plan: draw in men with a traditional barbershop, give them a comfortable place to hang out and talk, and possibly sell them one of the knives he has designed and hand-crafted.
Ward has leased 137 E. Fourth St., site of the former Nostalgia Corner antique store just west of Mo’ Betta Gumbo, and hopes to have his grand opening Oct. 1, with a soft opening the week before.
“The goal is to have almost a knife emporium,” he said Tuesday.
I guess it would give him an “edge” on his competition. *rimshot
