100 Knives in 100 Days Giveaway: Steel Will Cutjack

As we have been doing throughout out 100 Knives in 100 Days Giveaway, we are taking a moment to highlight the knives and the companies who are making this contest possible. This evening we gave away a Steel Will Cutjack 3″ D2 flipper.

The Cutjack is an unassisted flipper, liner lock, on phosphorous bronze washer. The handle is aggressively textured and is FRN, or Fiber Reinforced Nylon.

Personal Observations:

The ergonomics of the handle are solid. The detent is on the strong side. You need to apply a good deal of force or good finger alignment to open the knife, but it locks reliably and solidly. When open, the flipper is a bit harsh against your index finger. Were I to own the knife I would definitely ease those sharp edges a bit with a file. The centering is excellent.

For the $40 price point, it is one of the leaders of the pack. In fact, I can think of few other knives in the Cutjack’s class that offer as much bang for your buck.

Outside Review:

Since I don’t want to scratch up someone’s giveaway knife, I am going have to leave it to an outside reviewer to put it through its paces. It is interesting to note that Nick thinks that the detent it a little bit too strong as well.

As I said, I didn’t get to stress the Cutjack, but in my limited experience with the knife, I put it in my Top 3 recommendations for a sub-$50 EDC.
